“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46:1–3
Life grows dark in a storm. Doubt clouds our vision, and the enemy is quick to take advantage of it.
If God is good, why did He allow this to happen?
We know Jesus said we would have trouble in this world, but knowing trouble will come does not soften the blow. Fear, anger, and despair can shout louder than what we know to be true when pain leaves us searching for answers we cannot find.
Trust is tested here: when what we know about God collides with what we cannot understand.
We naturally want answers. But trust does not wait for every question to be resolved before it rests in God. It refuses to make understanding a condition of trusting Him.
Scripture does not give us a tidy explanation for every suffering we face. We live in a fallen world marked by sin, loss, human choices, and spiritual opposition. We should be careful about drawing simple conclusions about why a particular storm came.
But Scripture is unmistakably clear about something else: God has not abandoned us in it.
So how do we trust God amid the trials and uncertainty of life? When everything goes wrong and we can't find a justifiable reason?
This is where we learn that trust and security cannot rest in rescue or answers. It must rest in the One who is able to sustain us, even if neither comes.
Sometimes God changes the circumstances. Sometimes He gives an answer. Sometimes the storm passes quickly.
And sometimes He does not explain Himself at all.
That is why the question “Why?” can become such a painful place to live. We imagine that if God would simply explain what He is doing, we could finally have peace. But an explanation is not the same thing as peace. There are losses no explanation can soften.
Peace comes from somewhere much deeper.
Isaiah writes:
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”(Isaiah 26:3)
Notice where that peace is anchored. Not in knowing why or when the storm will end.
It is anchored in God Himself.
Job knew what it was to live with unanswered questions. He suffered deeply, asked why, and never received an explanation.
What he received instead was a deeper revelation of who God is.
“My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.”(Job 42:5)
Job never received the why. But he came to know the One.
That is where trust rests — in the One who remains sovereign, faithful, and present in the middle of it all.
We may not get the explanation we want. But we are never left without the God we need.
Reflection Questions
When you can’t understand what God is doing, what makes it hardest for you to trust Him? What might that reveal about where you are looking for security?

Prayer
Lord, I confess how quickly I reach for answers when life hurts. I want to understand what You are doing, and when I cannot, fear and doubt come easily. Help me trust You without demanding an explanation first. Fix my heart on what is true about You. You are sovereign, compassionate, and faithful, and You have not left me alone in the storm. Teach me to rest my security in You and trust You to sustain me through whatever comes. In Jesus’ name, amen.

So true…when we’re desperate and know not…our best anchor is repeating what we do know about God…HE is faithful sovereign & promised to never leave us!
I am a Catholic and at early weekday masses I am sometimes a Eucharistic minister. Wearing this sweatshirt early in the morning, even my pastor did a double take. It is something that requires a deeper look and an even deeper understanding. I love it. It’s a perfect message to live by every day.
Thanks for all you do. Wishing you continued success with your business.
I’m my Bible group we were talking about who we identified with in the Bible. One of ladies said, “oh I’m a Martha all the way, somebody has got to keep things running”! That night I saw this shirt and had to buy it for her. She absolutely loved it!!
Wore my shirt to the Joyce Meyer Love Life Conference in Tampa, Florida. Had many compliments and the shirt wears really well. Very soft and comfortable material
Love the Nailed it Jael sweatshirt! It is a good soft fabric. I ordered a large because I am cold all the time and wear a long-sleeve T-shirt under it. However, most people will not need that. The weight says Medium-Heavy… I would say it’s a medium weight for warmth. If you are warm-blooded or average, it would be perfect. My husband got the Heroes sweatshirt and loves it.
Store owner replied:
Thank you so much for your order and for taking the time to share your feedback. We're so happy to hear you love the tee, but sorry to hear it arrived with an odd smell. That is definitely not an experience we intend for our customers to have.
This isn't typical, but occasionally newly printed garments can have a temporary smell from the printing process. If the shirt is packaged immediately after production before it is completely dry, that scent can seem stronger when first opened. The smell is harmless and usually disappears completely after the first wash, so we're glad to hear washing it helped. If it does not dissipate, please reach out to us and we'll be glad to help further.
Thanks so much for your support. We truly appreciate it.
People LOVE this shirt! Best conversation starter so far and Suka loves it too! SO happy to have found Faithwise+Co. Best Christian-themed t-shirt company I have found!
I bought this for a friend who loves owls. She is crazy about this t shirt. She says it is absolutely perfect. It’s soft and fits great. Of course she loves the sentiment.
Love the shirt. The material it is manufactured with is my favorite… Very soft and comfortable.
Delivery was on time and I have had several compliments and smiles while wearing the T-shirt. Thanks for all you do. Continued success with your business.
