When the Heart Sees His Glory

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.”
— Hebrews 1:3
There’s a holy hush at the beginning of Hebrews. No introduction, no greeting—only a declaration that demands attention: God has spoken. For generations He spoke through prophets, but now, the writer says, He has spoken finally and fully through His Son. Every former word finds its fulfillment in Him.
Jesus is not simply a messenger from God; He is the message. The very radiance of divine glory—the exact visible representation of the invisible God. Through Him the galaxies hold together. And yet, this same eternal Son took on flesh, entering the world He created, walking roads of dust, enduring temptation and pain so He could bring us back to the Father.
The writer of Hebrews lingers on this wonder: the One enthroned above angels temporarily became lower than them, so that by His suffering He might overcome death and deliver us. Majesty wrapped in mercy. The infinite made intimate.
If we truly see Him this way—if we let the weight of who He is settle on our hearts—our faith can no longer drift into casual belief. We begin to listen differently, live differently, worship differently. Hebrews is clear: Pay attention. Don’t let His words fade into the background noise of life. The One who speaks is the One who saves.
And if He has spoken so powerfully through His Son, we must take care to remain faithful to what we have heard, seeing to it that our hearts do not become hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Such grace deserves devotion, not neglect.
Faith is not sustained by emotion but by vision—seeing Jesus for who He is. When our gaze is fixed on Him, lesser things lose their grip. Every trial becomes an invitation to trust the One who reigns above all yet stooped low to lift us up.
So today, pause.
Behold Him...
The radiance of God’s glory.
The exact imprint of His nature.
The sustainer of your every breath.
He has spoken.
He still speaks.
And every word from His mouth is life.
Reflection Questions:
How does the revelation of Jesus’ majesty call you to respond in every area of your life?
How does truly understanding who He is keep your heart soft and awake to the deceitfulness of sin?
Prayer:
Father, open my eyes to see Your Son as He truly is—the radiance of Your glory and the exact imprint of Your nature. Open my ears to hear Your voice above all others. Give me a heart that understands, obeys, and endures. Let the revelation of who Jesus is transform how I think, feel, and live. Shape my mind with truth and my heart with awe, until every part of me reflects Your glory. Amen.
