The Narrow Way
Share
Jesus never promised that following Him would be simple. In fact, He said quite the opposite:
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
— Matthew 7:13–14
It can be tempting to want faith to feel comfortable—to hope that choosing Christ means things will fall neatly into place. But the narrow way isn’t the easy way. It asks something of us. It means surrendering what the world applauds. It means trusting God’s wisdom over popular opinion. It means standing firm when compromise would be easier.
What is it about this hard path that leads to real life?
It’s this: the narrow way leads to Christ Himself. And in Him is life—true, eternal, unshakable life. The narrow way may be costly in the short term, but its rewards are forever. And the good news is: you don’t walk it alone.
“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 3:14
Christ walked this path before us. He endured the cross, despising its shame, so that we could follow Him home. When the way feels hard, remember: you’re not proving your strength—you’re depending on His. And His grace is sufficient for every step.
Reflection Question:
Where in your life is Christ calling you to choose the narrow way, even when it’s hard?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for showing me the way that leads to life. When I’m tempted to choose what’s easy over what’s right, help me to remember what truly lasts. Strengthen me to walk the narrow path—not in my own power, but leaning on You. Give me eyes fixed on eternity and a heart that trusts You in the cost. Amen.
