Everyone knows how it begins: "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me." We have sung it so many times the words can slide right past us. But the man who wrote them meant every one, because he had been the wretch.
John Newton was a slave trader. He shipped people in chains and felt nothing of it. Then came a night in 1748 when the sea nearly took his life. A storm tore into his ship off the coast of Ireland, water pouring in through the boards. Newton, who had spent years mocking God, cried out to Him to save him. And the ship held. He never forgot how he had begged for mercy he did not deserve, and that God had given it anyway.
Grace did not remake him overnight. Even after that night, he went on to captain slave ships for years. The change came slowly. But it came. The man who had once trafficked in human lives became a pastor. Near the end of his life, he lent his voice to the fight that finally abolished the trade he had profited from. And somewhere on that long road, he wrote the hymn we all know and love.
When Newton wrote, "Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; 'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home," he was not describing the day he was saved. He was looking back across a whole life. He had learned that grace was not only where his life with God began. It was what carried him through every peril and vice, and what would carry him the rest of the way home. The grace that found him was the grace that changed him and kept him.
That is the kind of grace the whole hymn is about, and it is the same grace Scripture promises you. The love that first reached you was not a one-time rescue, leaving you to then manage on your own. The God who started His work in you has promised to finish it. So when you face your own sin and trials, the temptations, the losses, the long seasons of doubt, you do not face them alone. The same grace that saved you is holding you now.
So look back over your own life and find the places grace has already carried you, and the times you were held when you did not even realize it. Newton had been blind. By the end, he could see what his whole life had been: grace, from the storm to his final breath. He is home now. One day, you will be too. And when you look back from there, you will see that every step of the way was grace.

Prayer
Father, thank You for the grace that found me, and for the grace that has held onto me every day since. When I look back, I can see You carrying me through things I could never have survived on my own, even when I did not notice. Whatever is ahead of me, help me trust that the same grace that brought me this far will carry me the rest of the way. And thank You that one day it will bring me all the way home to You. I don't want to stop being amazed by it. In Jesus' name, amen.

Grace has carried me through the ending of my 27 year marriage to my former spouse who was a pastor who has walked away from God completely, is atheist and living a homosexual lifestyle. Through it all, God has carried, and covered me and our four kids. He never fails. I’ve been through the fire and I don’t smell like smoke. From the ashes of my life, God is building new things/ways to see women live integrated and whole lives: Mind, Soul and Body. Jesus plus nothing equals everything.
Tears are flowing. These words you wrote are so timely. My mom lives with me and my son. She is 90 yrs young. Up until 2-3 months back she was fit, happy, healthy. Ive had to call ambulance three times in less than a month period. Shes had countless heart scans, bladder scans, edges, blood drawn when they can find a vein….she had bad pneumonia which she got through it, but has never recovered. Not one good day in 3 months. Im the youngest of 3 brothers. They are of no avail. She cant have a bowel movement. Went probably 2 months without. Then she slowly stopped peeing. The 2nd ambulance call she was in suchhh pain..can barely walk. I told hospital doctors, paramedics this is an issue. No one addressed it. They sent her home..3 days later I was calling an ambulance again. To make a hard long story short she is home. Exlax helped 2 times. Nothing else does. She is in such pain. Her stomach is so big because her bowels are backing up again. Im so scared and stressed. I dont want her in pain. She needs relief, a cure. Please pray for her.

Fits to size perfect, didn't shrink. the material is comfortable and seems like it will stand up to time. The communication was good and my order came in a timely matter. I love this shirt soooo much! I’ve been eye-balling it for awhile because I love the OT, and I’ve studied the sacrificial system in depth. I also love a little bit of humor and sarcasm, so this shirt had my name written all over it! :) It’s great quality and just as shown in the pic. I wear a 10/12, and I got the medium. It fits just how I would expect (not too small!). I’m 5’4.5”, 160 lbs, and pear shaped, if that helps you pick your size.

The first place I went to with my shirt was a Women's Conference that weekend. The opening hostess made a comment that she was a woman who was more comfortable with a tent peg her hand and if you didn't know what she was talking about read Judges 4. Imagine her delight when I saw her afterwards with my Jael t-shirt!
Love the quality but I just have one huge request and that is to make v-neck shirts available for women. I usually don't buy crewneck T-shirts but I couldn't resist your designs. I'd probably buy more if I could get v-necks, 😉
Good overall experience. Shirt was darker than expected according to stock photos but still a nice shirt. T-shirt material heavy weight feel for those who might wonder, but seems to be a material that will last for a long time.
