The God Who Remembers
Share
Sometimes it feels like God is silent.
The waiting stretches longer than you imagined. The prayer feels stuck on repeat. The ache you carry? It’s still here. And somewhere along the way, you begin to wonder—Did God forget me?
But God has never been inattentive. Throughout Scripture, we see people walk through long seasons of silence and lingering pain—but even then, God is not absent. He is present, purposeful, and faithful.
Noah had been inside the ark for months. The storm had passed, but the waiting had not. The skies had gone quiet. The water was slow to recede. Still sealed in, perhaps feeling unseen, Noah waited. And then we read:
“But God remembered Noah…”
— Genesis 8:1
It had been over a year since Noah entered the ark, through forty days of flooding and many more of waiting. The waters had risen and slowly receded. The silence had stretched long. But then—God moved, not according to human timelines, but in perfect alignment with His purpose and promise.
In the Bible, when it says “God remembered,” it doesn’t mean He forgot. It’s covenant language. It means God is faithful to His word, faithful to His people, and faithful in His timing—even when we don’t see the movement yet.
The Israelites weren’t forgotten in Egypt. Noah wasn’t forgotten on the water. And you are not forgotten now.
Your circumstances may be lingering longer than you hoped. But that doesn’t mean God is absent. Delay is not denial. Silence is not separation. When God remembers, He doesn’t just recall—He redeems.
You don’t need more proof to know you’re remembered. You have a cross that settled that forever. And while you wait, you can rest in the truth that the One who holds all things together is holding your story, too. Even the parts that feel unanswered. There is a purpose—God’s purpose—even if there’s a price. But there is always provision.
Reflection Question:
What does your current waiting reveal about how you view God’s presence or timing?
Prayer:
Lord, You are the God who remembers. But I confess that in my waiting, I’ve struggled to believe that You are still near. Help me to trust You—not just for what I long to see, but for whatever You deem good. Strengthen my heart to rest in who You are, even while I wait in the in-between. Amen.
