"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...'"
— Matthew 28:18–19
They had seen Him die.
And now, they stood face to face with the risen Lord.
The apostles didn’t risk everything for personal inspiration or moral improvement. They proclaimed the gospel because it was true—and they would never stake their lives on something they knew was a lie.
They faced imprisonment, beatings, rejection, and death—not for an idea, but for a risen King.
The resurrection wasn’t just good news. It was orders.
It meant the kingdom of God had come, and the world could never be the same.
The Commission Still Stands
Jesus didn’t gather His followers post-resurrection to soothe their fear and send them home.
He gave them a mission:
Go. Make disciples. Baptize. Teach. And remember—I am with you.
The message was not safe, but it was saving.
And so they went—ordinary people with extraordinary power, because the risen Christ had filled them with His Spirit.
They didn’t spread inspiration. They spread reconciliation to God and one another.
And everywhere they went, hearts were changed, lives were healed, and the gospel took root.
This Changes Everything
We are not called to protect a belief system—we are called to proclaim a risen Lord.
The gospel changes us from the inside out:
-
It softens hearts of stone.
-
It frees us from guilt and fear.
-
It gives us eyes to see people not as enemies, but as those Christ came to redeem.
And then it sends us—not just to go somewhere far away, but to live differently where we are.
To carry resurrection hope into conversations, relationships, workplaces, and every dark and broken place we can reach.
Because Jesus is alive, we go in power, not fear.
In truth, not opinion.
In love and humility, not pride or self-righteousness.
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, You are worth everything. Thank You for calling me into this gospel—not just to believe it, but to live it and share it. Fill me with courage to speak what is true, even when it’s costly. Make me an ambassador of Your hope and Your kingdom. Amen.
