The Peace That Passes Understanding
Share
Life is unpredictable. One moment, everything feels steady, and the next, you’re facing unexpected trials, uncertainty, or stress. But Jesus offers something the world cannot: a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives.” (John 14:27)
The world’s version of peace depends on circumstances—if everything is going well, we feel at peace. But Jesus offers a peace that remains, even in the storm.
Think of the moment Jesus and His disciples were in a boat, and a violent storm came upon them (Mark 4:35-41). While the disciples panicked, Jesus slept. When they woke Him, fearful of drowning, He simply said, “Peace, be still.” And the storm obeyed.
That same peace is available to us today. It doesn’t mean life will be easy, but it does mean that we are held by the One who commands the waves.
At the heart of true peace is trust in who Jesus is:
- He is completely sovereign – Nothing happens outside of His control. (Colossians 1:16-17)
- He is infinitely wise – His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
- He is perfectly loving – His plans for us are always for our ultimate good. (Romans 8:28)
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, pause and breathe. Instead of looking at the storm, look to the Savior. His peace is available not because of the absence of trouble, but because of the presence of Jesus.
🙏 Prayer: Lord, in a world filled with chaos, fill my heart with Your peace. Help me to trust You in the storms and to rest in Your promises. Amen.
