God Is Near, Even When We Don’t Feel It
Share
Have you ever had a season where God felt distant? Maybe your prayers seemed to go unanswered, or your heart felt dry and disconnected. We all experience times when God’s presence doesn’t feel as close as we’d like. But here’s the truth: our feelings don’t determine His nearness—His promises do.
Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Even when we can’t see or feel Him, He is present.
One of the greatest lies the enemy tells us is that God is absent when life gets hard. But Scripture tells a different story. David, a man after God’s own heart, often cried out in loneliness: “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?” (Psalm 13:1)—yet he always returned to faith, trusting that God had not abandoned him.
When we need reassurance that God is still at work, the Book of Esther offers a powerful reminder. It’s one of the few books in the Bible where God’s name is never mentioned—yet His presence is woven through every event. Esther, an ordinary woman, was placed in an extraordinary position “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14), and though God seemed silent, He was working behind the scenes the entire time to save His people.
Maybe you feel like God is silent in your life right now. But just like in Esther’s story, His hand is at work, even when we don’t see it. He is orchestrating things for your good, moving in ways beyond what you can imagine.
If you’re in a dry season, take heart:
- God is still listening (1 John 5:14)
- He will never leave you (Deuteronomy 31:8)
- Your prayers are heard (Psalm 116:1-2)
Instead of waiting to “feel” God, lean into His Word and promises. Trust Him. He is closer than you think.
🙏 Prayer: Lord, when I feel distant from You, help me trust that You are still near. Remind me that You never leave me, even when I can’t feel Your presence. Strengthen my faith in the waiting. Amen.
